SOG PowerAssist Black Oxide Multi-Tool
The use of a multi-tool for common people is great, but it’s even better for those serving in the military. As early as the time of the Roman Empire, isolated soldiers would use a sort of multi-tool with a variety of portable utensils for eating purposes. When World War II hit, the same concept of a multi-tool gained popularity. Today, it’s more commonly known as a Tactical Multi-Tool. If youre looking for a multi-tool for military use, you are in the right place! If you on the other hand are looking for a regular multitool, check our review of popular multi-tools!
Compared to the average swiss army knife, it was designed to give a tactical advantage for people in the military field, law enforcement, or even a civilian. Aside from the regular tools that come in an ordinary multi-tool, these tactical ones can be used for clearing a weapon jam, crimping blasting caps, opening rations, and even nail grooming. It’s also more sturdy and heavy-duty.
If you think you absolutely need (or want) a tactical multi-tool, for whichever reason, then here are some of my recommendations.
Possibly the most popular one from this category of multi-tools, the Leatherman MUT is a well-loved product by servicemen themselves. There are 2 models available for this, one is the original MUT and the other is the MUT EOD, which has gotten more of a tactical upgrade. Both perform well and includes a variety of efficient tools. The main difference between the two is that the EOD has fuse cutters, a crimper for blasting caps, and a C4 explosives punch tool. With these additions, it also means that the standard pliers, the wire cutters as well as the hard-wire cutters, and the firearm disassembly punch are not available. Either way, the Leatherman MUT and MUT EOD are great multi-tools.
